Seattle pulled within three points with 11:46 left on Monday night. Then the Chicago Bears took the game away on the ground. D'Andre Swift scored on two 5-yard runs in the next seven minutes, and Chicago left Lumen Field with a 34-17 win.

The Seattle Seahawks converted 1 of 11 third downs and had the ball for 24:57. Chicago had it for 35:03. That gap decided the night as much as any single play.

The loss drops Seattle to 4-4. Chicago moves to 6-2.

How it was won

Chicago scored first. Caleb Williams found Luther Burden III from 1 yard out at 5:25 of the first quarter for a 7-0 lead.

The second quarter was a kicking contest until the final minute. Jason Myers hit from 27 yards to make it 7-3. Cairo Santos answered from 44 and 38 yards to push the lead to 13-3. With 30 seconds left in the half, Sam Darnold hit Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a 43-yard touchdown. Myers missed the extra point, and Seattle went in down 13-9.

Swift's 1-yard run at 5:38 of the third made it 20-9. Seattle answered early in the fourth. Darnold threw 7 yards to Cooper Kupp, then hit Tory Horton for the two-point conversion. That cut the lead to 20-17 with 11:46 to play.

It was as close as Seattle got. Swift scored from 5 yards at 8:28 and again from 5 yards at 4:41.

Swift's line was not efficient. He had 27 carries for 69 yards, but he also had three touchdowns. His volume kept the clock moving and kept Seattle's offense on the sideline. Kalif Raymond added a 39-yard run on his only carry. Chicago finished with 126 rushing yards.

Williams went 24 of 34 for 247 yards and a touchdown. Rome Odunze caught 4 passes for 87 yards. Colston Loveland led the Bears with 7 catches for 65 yards. Chicago converted 7 of 15 third downs and outgained Seattle 363 to 252.

Darnold was 17 of 34 for 188 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Smith-Njigba carried the passing game with 6 catches for 118 yards. Horton had 3 catches for 26 yards. Seattle ran for 81 yards. Jadarian Price had 29 yards on 10 carries, and Zach Charbonnet had 23 on 6. Each side committed one turnover.

The missed extra point mattered. Without it, the fourth-quarter conversion would have tied the game rather than left Seattle three points short.

Against the number

Seattle closed as a 3-point favorite at home. Chicago covered by winning outright. The Bears closed at +140 on the moneyline, and Seattle closed at -166.

The total closed at 46.5, and 51 points went over. It got there late. The score stood at 20-17, 37 points in all, until Swift's two fourth-quarter touchdowns added 14 more. Full closing prices are on the game page.

What's next

Seattle hosts the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, November 8, on Fox. The Seahawks won the first meeting 31-7 in Arizona. They are 2-4 over their last six games and 3-2 at Lumen Field this season. The third-down numbers and the kicking game are the obvious places to start.

Chicago's next opponent was not part of the schedule we were given. Check the Bears' team page for the date and the price once the market opens.
