How to read the Seahawks board: moneyline, spread, total and the hold

What each number on a Seahawks game page means, how the per-$100 column is worked out, what a fee does to a contract, and why the hold matters most.

Every Seahawks game on the board opens to six tables: both sides of the moneyline, both sides of the spread, and the over and under on the total. Each table puts one position side by side across every venue that prices it. Here is what the columns mean and how each figure is calculated, worked through on a single real line: DraftKings' numbers for Sunday's game against Arizona at Lumen Field, as ESPN listed them at about 4:30 p.m. Eastern on Friday.

Three ways to price one game

Moneyline. You pick the winner and nothing else. A minus number marks the favorite and says how much you would have to risk to win $100. A plus number marks the underdog and says what $100 wins. DraftKings had Seattle at -470 and Arizona at +360: $470 on the Seahawks to make $100, or $100 on the Cardinals to make $360. The same listing shows the line opened at -750 and +525. In between, Seattle ruled Sam Darnold out on Wednesday with a quad injury, and Drew Lock, who has been nursing a sore elbow, is in line to start.

Spread. The favorite gives points and the underdog gets them. DraftKings had Seattle -8.5, down from -13.5 at the open. The Seahawks have to win by nine or more for that side to pay; Arizona pays by winning or by losing by eight or fewer. Both sides were priced at -110, the standard sportsbook price on an NFL spread. In football the margins that matter most are 3 and 7, because so many games end on a field goal or a touchdown, which is why a half point on either side of those numbers can move a price more than a half point anywhere else. At 8.5, a Seattle win by a touchdown and a field goal (10) covers; a win by a touchdown and a two-point conversion (8) does not.

Total. Forget who wins and add the two scores. DraftKings had the total at 39.5, with the over at -112 and the under at -108; it opened at 45.5. The over needs 40 combined points, the under 39 or fewer. For scale, Seattle's last two games produced 23 points (a 20-3 win over Kansas City) and 51 (a 34-17 loss to Chicago).

These are examples of how the board reads, not a recommendation. NFL prices move all week, and these will have moved by the time you read this.

The per-$100 column

American odds and contract prices do not compare at a glance, so the board turns every quote into one number: the profit a winning $100 position returns.

  • Plus odds: the profit is the number itself. +360 returns $360.
  • Minus odds: divide 100 by the odds and multiply by 100. -470 returns $21.28; -110 returns $90.91; -112 returns $89.29; -108 returns $92.59.
  • A prediction-market contract at price p (82 cents is 0.82) with a fee rate r: profit = 100 / (p × (1 + r × (1 − p))) − 100.

Take a Seahawks contract at 82 cents, roughly -456 in American odds. With no fee, $100 buys 121.95 contracts and a win pays $21.95 in profit. At Kalshi's 7% rate, some of the $100 goes to the fee instead of contracts, and the profit drops to $20.43. The standard check figure, from the same formula: a 60-cent contract returns $66.67 with no fee and $62.13 at a 7% rate.

Where Novig's fee comes in

Novig's fee depends on when and how you trade, per its published fee schedule as of November 2026:

  • Pre-game straight trades on the app or website pay no fee, so the 82-cent Seahawks contract bought before kickoff returns the full $21.95 per $100.
  • Live (in-game) trades that take a resting order pay a taker fee that scales with price: 0.06 × price × (1 − price) per contract, the same rate for the NFL as for every other league. At that rate the same 82-cent contract returns $20.65.
  • Makers, traders whose resting order is the one filled, pay nothing.

The board prices games before kickoff, which is why Novig's rows there carry no fee.

Best price and the gap

Each table is sorted by the per-$100 figure, highest first, and the leader is tagged Best. Novig is pinned to the first row so it is always visible, and every row underneath shows how many dollars it gives up against the leader on the same $100. On the moneyline that comparison is direct. On spreads and totals it holds only when two venues deal the same number; if one book has Seattle -8.5 and another -9, the row is flagged, because in the NFL a half point can decide the result as surely as the price does.

The hold

If you read one column, make it this one. Convert both sides of a two-way market into implied probabilities and add them. A perfectly fair market sums to 100%. Everything above that is what the venue keeps.

DraftKings' moneyline above implies 82.46% for Seattle (-470) and 21.74% for Arizona (+360). Together that is 104.20%, a hold of 4.20%. The spread, at -110 on both sides, comes to 104.76%, a 4.76% hold, and the total, at -112 and -108, to 104.75%. All of it is built in before kickoff.

A prediction market has no house on the other side, so its two sides usually add to within a cent or two of $1. A market with the Seahawks at 82 cents and the Cardinals at 19 adds to 101 cents, a hold of about 1%. What remains is simply the distance between the best buy and the best sell on the order book.

The board prints each venue's hold next to its row, worked out from that venue's own two prices when the page last refreshed. It says nothing about who wins. It says what the venue charges to take part.

How fresh the numbers are

The board refreshes roughly every ten minutes. With one game a week, NFL lines have days to move, and they move most on injury news: practice reports run Wednesday through Friday, final designations come out Friday, and inactives are announced about 90 minutes before kickoff. This week is a clear example; the spread had moved five points by Friday. Use the board to see which venue tends to pay more on which side, then check the live price before you act. Sunday's game page carries the full comparison until kickoff, then the score, and after the final the recap. The Seahawks' full schedule is on the team page.
